Hoversten,
Johnson, Beckmann & Hovey, L.L.P., is a general
practice law firm with offices located in Austin
and Adams, Minnesota. The firm provides a broad
range of legal services to clients in Southern
Minnesota. The firm was founded in 1941, and in
1964, the partnership was instituted in its
present form when Kenneth M. Strom joined Kermit
Hoversten’s practice in Austin. Specializing
initially in personal injury, insurance defense
and municipal law, the firm has expanded to
offer expertise across a broad range of legal
practice. Firm members have served with
distinction on various professional committees
of the State Bar Association, have taught at
many professional development seminars and are
peer-recognized for excellence in both business
and personal counseling and litigation
practice.
This firm is
currently comprised of seven attorneys. In
addition to the senior partner, Craig Johnson,
law firm members are: David Hoversten, John
Beckmann, Steve Hovey, Craig Byram, Marty Helle
and Tracy Morton. Founder Kermit Hoversten
remains of counsel.
In addition to
these attorneys, the law firm employs a staff of
three experienced
legal assistants as well as a number of clerical
workers.
As a general
practice law firm, Hoversten, Johnson, Beckmann
& Hovey, offers legal services in the areas of
personal injury, wrongful death, product
liability and insurance litigation; employment,
workers compensation and labor law; business and
corporate law; estate planning, probate and
trusts; real estate law; creditor’s remedies;
bankruptcy law; administrative law; and criminal
law. Our attorneys are licensed and certified to
practice before all Federal and State Courts in
Minnesota, as well as various governmental
agencies including the Treasury Department,
Workers Compensation Commission, Social Security
Administration and Federal and State Agencies
involved with health care, environmental
protection and employee welfare. Firm members
are committed to providing legal assistance to
the poor and other disenfranchised groups.
Hoversten, Johnson, Beckmann & Hovey actively
supports Southern Minnesota Regional Legal
Services and have provided many hours of pro
bono volunteer legal services to this
provider of legal aid.
In today’s
legal environment, changes in the law can occur
rapidly and with little warning. Firm
members have developed flexibility in developing
legal solutions to our clients’ problems and
have considerable expertise in new and
developing fields of law, including workplace
civil rights, employment discrimination and
disability law, condominium and other real
estate development, agricultural lending,
environmental protection statutes and their
enforcement, fire and arson litigation and class
action litigation under the Fair Labor Standards
Act.
